Impress your friends with a DIY circle skirt! It’s the ideal project for beginners because it’s super easy, but is very tailored looking and wearable. You will need: -Fabric. I aim for 60″ wide fabric, as 45″ would make a skirt too short for my tastes. And then I buy an equal length to the width (so that I end up with a square). -matching thread -a zipper -interfacing (optional: If your fabric is stiff you probably could do without, but I find that in the long run interfacing gives me a much cleaner, more professional look) ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I just accidentally deleted the long detailed description and instructions I was typing. I’m going to bed.

@estupidoinlove haha! I noticed the giant doggy, too!!!
Love it :} AND the pattern!
i just cut out a circle… o.0 i feel so unprofessional without all this math stuff
This is beautiful and very helpful!
@PerfectPride if you have a scientific calculator its easy.
i like how the giant doggy sitting there, ignoring all things
Did you add a lining to your skirt? It looks great!
And can I just extend the radius of the circle to make the skirt longer?
looks great on you!
ita with perfect pride
lol your so cool butcan i make one with highwaist the then attach a top as i need to make room from growing tummy?
I have a circle skirt that i want to shorten but its hard because, well, because its a circle haha.
thx hon
Would the radius of the waist be measured in inches or centimeters?
Thanks! This is really handy, I am making one tomorrow and wasn’t sure about the zip and waist band. I feel much more confident now
Living away from my mum sucks, normally she helps me with all my sewing!
LOVE IT!
Really cool- but the math trows me off. >.>
@flimsybutterfly, actuallyit is if you make the elastic 2 inches smaller than your waist and can make a casin for the elastic ^_^
Hi. Is it possible to use 2″ elastic rather than using a bias as a waistband? BTW, your tutorial is great. Thanks.
What song is this???
@Evange yeah sorrry inches hahahaha
@tracyblessed13 You mean inches, right?
@Evange 60 yards…i measure it…not enough!
@tracyblessed13 How wide is the fabric?
@Evange Thank You! I only got 4 yards by mistake so i am going to make 3 quaters and make just a little less than a circle skirt; you think it will turn nicely?? =]
@tracyblessed13 I like this technique, especially with patterned fabric or flowing-drapey fabric such as chiffon, because it allows me to keep the grain line running up-down fairly consistently.
But the math might be a bit difficult to calculate if you’re not already comfortable making circle skirts.
@tracyblessed13 you could also go even narrower, cutting an isosceles triangle with the width of your fabric, and using the same radial technique from the video to curve the bottom. You’d need a protractor to measure the angle at the top, then you’d divide 360 by whatever angle your triangle is, and cut out your pattern X number of times.
