It has been there ever since I knew my mum as a tailor. I know you must be wondering what that is, anyway it is her pair of Mundial Scissors!
My mother is so attached to this brand of scissors that she changed the name of her dressmaking to Mundial Scissors! Now that was Mundial Special! If there is any award for customers of Mundial products, my mum surely deserves one. On one sunny afternoon, I decided to reveal the story behind these scissors that my mother is so fond of. I pleaded with her to give me full details of how the scissors came about and why she stuck stubbornly to them even though there are hundreds of other brands out there.
The devil you know is better than the angel you do not know, I was told. She then narrated that when she graduated from her tailoring institute in the 1980s, she was given a very symbolic gift by her boss- a pair of shiny, chrome-plated Mundial Scissors! She launched her own business venture with this pair of scissors and she found them to be sharp and very, very reliable. The hinges always worked well and the blades are ever sharp. Not once has the scissors damaged any of the clothes she worked on. They cut seamlessly and precisely. This is not to add the fact that they have very strong anti-corrosion properties and are very durable. Not many scissors in the market today can do all that. If she could derive so much benefit from these products, then why change a winning team, I reasoned.
The Mundial Scissors fever has caught virtually everybody in my family; even my father is not left out of the whole drama. He once used the a Mundial clipping tool for his moustache. Nowadays, he used the Mundial products such as scissors and shears in most of his activities at home. This is important because he is a graphics designer who needs scissors to do a lot of paper-cutting in very accurate and precise manner. In these scissors, he seems to have found what he had been looking for- from my mother of course. He also loves gardening and the Mundial products always come in handy.
Some weeks ago, a number of apprentices under my mother were graduating and I was in charge of procuring the most ideal gifts for them. You can guess what I bought. At another time, I was given a paper mat assignment from the school and it involved cutting cardboard. The cutting was done with my favourite scissors and the work was so neat that I got the highest score! In my family, using the Mundial Scissors is actually more of a tradition!
