aww you baby its so cute thanks for share i have to make one so this is perfect thank you again
It is a double not
do you have to finish it with yarn?
you could sew straight lines through the two to quilt them together and avoid the whole worry about a baby sucking on random strings.
Great Job! Thank you for sharing. RP from Texas.
thanks, i was afraid to try to do the edging around the baby blankets that I make, but you made it look easy and I’m going to try it on my next one!
wow easy nice choice of fabrics…kudos and thank you…
Freakin AwesomE! We are having our first child and I am gonna make my baby girl her first Alabama blanket so she can be warm when we watch football on Saturdays! Quick and easy.
Lol! I like the way you added that nuke cloud in after the needle broke. And although you could have just replaced the needle, and continued on, but cut the replacement out of the clip, this was a nice video and nice looking blanket. Everyone have their different styles. No one is the same. And appears to be light weight, and not too hot or uncomfy for the child. Thanks for sharing!
@melissasullivan100 : I agreed. It represented the disaster when the needle broke, but why not just stop the film and change the needle? I wish people would rehearse and preview before posting things on youtube.
The binding seems to be a lot of trouble for a small blanket with no batting. It would seem easier to stitch the 2 fabrics right sides together then turn, Iron edge then top stitch (no need to hand stitch the opening) Tack it with tight zigzag or free-form spirals or stars intermittently over surface. Wash fabric first to preshrink.
You sure it takes only 20 Min? Lay flat iron takes time too
thank you for the tutorial
I like tufts better,.,.then you can have four threads.. takes longer but looks better and the kids cannot untie them. go in an out with darning needle, then lay pencl down on top of thread that you pulled thru, cut a piece of thread the same size, lay it down on top of the pencil.. then tie each into a knot, then take all four and make a knot with all the threads together… – this leaves space for the thread and knot to give.,,.,. they can twirl away & cannot untie the knots,
I have made a hundred blankets with flannel or flannel and seersucker or plisse for my grandbabies. I ususally turn the edges under and handstitched or machine stitched. I made most with right sides together and then left a hand’s width area open and flipped them, then handstitched them. I don’t tie because I used them first with newborns. They puff out in the dryer, but fold very nicely. I have made 30″ squares to 45″ squares with equal success.
This one is really pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Do the yarn pieces stick out? That might be a hazard for a tiny baby. It’s perfect though for toddlers because of the texture, patterns, and colors. It’s kinda cute!
Awsesome simple and on my way to make one now!! THANX!

I made a yarn tied baby blanket for my son when he was born. He could care less about the ties, but he liked the feel of the the eyelet edging between his fingers while he was having a “bah bah.” He’ll be 26 in May. I finally got him off the bah bah. Just kidding! No choking hazard with the ties. Grip them between your thumb and index finger and clip. That is a good length for a baby blanket. I like tied quilts!.
I would recommend turning under the raw edge of the end of the binding. It will wear better not having a raw edge exposed, and since the binding is cut on the bias, it can stretch out of shape, including stitching over it with a zig-zag stitch. It is very easy to just turn an inch under, and you can finish it with a hand whipstitch to attach the turned-under edge to the other end of the binding underneath it. This makes a more durable and nicer finish which doesn’t take much longer to complete.
Yay for non perfectionism! Great video and blanket.
Adorable little boy! thanks!
nice video but that scream scared me haha!
@Baagock333 Actually those are important on blankets, not really for this type though, but they do look cute for baby blankets. They wont cause harm to baby.
JungleCents has a great deal on baby blankets!
This is a great and fast blanket. I’m going to try and make one for the baby coming in my family. If it works out I’m going to try and make a larger one for a nephew Thanks for posting this video Melarky.
